Revisiting the casing layer: Casing materials and management in Agaricus mushroom cultivation

نویسندگان

چکیده

ABSTRACT The cultivation of button mushroom has reached a high technological level in developed countries and is associated with productivity indices. This involves not only compost production crop management but also the casing layer. Peat been established as one most appropriate materials for due to its excellent properties. However, good-quality peat available all countries, renewable, which reinforces need alternative materials. Therefore, studies on layer should include response induction fruiting since this stage where main changes that lead formation primordia occur. review addresses different aspects Agaricus mushrooms influence characteristics production.

Using tea waste as a new casing material in mushroom (Agaricus bisporus (L.) Sing.) cultivation.

In this study, the possibility of using tea production waste as a new casing material in mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) cultivation was investigated. Some physical and chemical characteristics of tea waste, fermented tea waste and a mixture of tea waste with peat were compared with that of peat casing, as were their effects on yield. The highest yield was obtained from peat casing. Using tea prod...

Primordia initiation of mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) strains on axenic casing materials.

The mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) has a requirement for a "casing layer" that has specific physical, chemical and microbiological properties which stimulate and promote the initiation of primordia. Some of these primordia then may develop further into sporophores, involving differentiation of tissue. Wild and commercial strains of A. bisporus were cultured in axenic and nonaxenic microcosms, usi...

using vermicompost in casing soil for button mushroom (agaricus bisporus) cultivation

casing soil is one of the most important indicators of button mushroom production, which has a direct impact on the size and performance. due to the easy availability of resources for the production of vermicompost this mix can be used alternative of peat to button mushroom production. this study was conducted with nine treatments and three replications in¬¬ a completely randomized design at th...

Production flush of Agaricus blazei on Brazilian casing layers

This study aimed to verify the biological efficiency and production flushes of Agaricus blazei strains on different casing layers during 90 cultivation days. Four casing layers were used: mixture of subsoil and charcoal (VCS), lime schist (LSC), São Paulo peat (SPP) and Santa Catarina peat (SCP); and two genetically distant A. blazei strains. The fungus was grown in composted substratum and, af...

the effect of hydrogel in casing soil for button mushroom (agaricus bisporus l.)

to reduce peat while increasing the water holding capacity (whc) of casing soil in button mushroom production an experiment was conducted in 2006 with three hydrogel treatments of: t0= casing soil with no hydrogel, as control, t1= casing soil + 10% hydrogel (v/v), and t2= casing soil + 20% hydrogel (v/v) with three replicates in a completely randomized design. results indicated that treatment 1...
